First Chess with Roll Up Mat

It contains 3.75* King Height Triple weighted chessmen with Double Queens. Double Queens are included because when a pawn travels across the board to the opponents last row, called promotion, the player is allowed to recover a captured chess piece. The second queen is legal in tournament play to bring onto the board. If the second queen is not available then a rook that has been captured is often turned over and returned to the board denoting it is a queen.

It has a green & ivory tournament size chess mat with alpha/numeric coding on the outside margin of the board. The Alpha/Numerics allow young and experience players to note their individual moves on a grid pattern. It teaches them strategy and helps with review of moves at the end of the games.

A canvas shoulder tote is included for the roll up mat and chessmen. It fits in their backpacks or can be carried alone to their class room or event. It includes instructions for basic play and comes in a color box for display on your shelves.
